Policies

Hotel Policy

Check-in and check-out times, reservation and cancellation terms, payment methods, and the house rules that apply during your stay at Seahorse Inn & Cottages.

Check-in and check-out

  • Check-in is from 4 p.m. Check-out is by 11 a.m.
  • The front desk is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day.
  • Early check-in requires management approval and is subject to availability; a property-specific fee may apply.
  • Late check-out requires approval and is subject to availability; a property-specific fee may apply. Otherwise, check-out remains 11 a.m.
  • Arriving late? Call the front desk before 6 p.m. on the day of arrival to arrange late arrival.
  • Report visible room problems to the front desk within 15 minutes of check-in. The hotel will investigate and may correct the issue, change the room subject to availability, or review a refund request. Problems that could not reasonably be discovered immediately remain reviewable by management.

Reservations, cancellation and refunds

  • A valid credit or debit card is required to make a reservation.
  • Cancellation is free until 4 p.m. Eastern Time, seven calendar days before the day of arrival. Once the free cancellation period ends, the card on the reservation is automatically charged the full amount of the stay.
  • If the card declines for any reason, the reservation is cancelled and the room released. The hotel does not contact the guest for another payment method.
  • Reservations made within seven days of arrival are charged in full and are non-refundable.
  • A deposit towards your stay can be paid in advance. If the reservation is cancelled inside the free cancellation period, there is no cancellation charge and the eligible deposit is refunded.
  • In a mandatory evacuation, every reservation is cancelled and refunded in full. No other weather-related cancellation is permitted once the free cancellation period has ended.
  • Changing the dates or the room type is subject to availability and to any difference in rate.
  • On an early check-out, the whole stay is charged. No refund is issued.
  • Card refunds can take 5–7 business days. Eligible cash security deposits are returned at check-out. Third-party providers may use different processing times.
  • A reservation made through a third-party booking agency can only be changed or cancelled through that agency.
  • The card used to make a reservation cannot be changed.

Payment, deposits and card holds

  • We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express.
  • We accept cash for room charges and applicable taxes.
  • We do not accept virtual credit cards.
  • A valid credit card is required at check-in for incidentals, damage and security, even when the room is paid in cash. A pre-authorisation hold may be placed on it, although some stays do not require a damage hold. If a required hold cannot be authorised, the reservation may be refused or cancelled, regardless of cash on hand. The amount varies by property and room type; call the hotel to confirm the amount for your stay. When the hotel places a hold and no charge is retained, the hotel releases it later on checkout day.
  • For a reservation made through a third-party booking site, payment and hold arrangements may differ according to how the agency confirmed and processed the booking. Confirm the applicable terms with both the booking provider and the hotel.
  • A deposit may be charged on a reservation paid in cash. It is refunded in full at check-out provided there is no visible damage or loss.
  • No cash refunds are issued under any circumstances. An approved refund is returned to the original method of payment or, at management’s discretion, by cheque or card.

Age, ID and card at check-in

  • You must be at least 21 years old to reserve a room.
  • A legal federal or state-issued ID is required at check-in.
  • A valid credit or debit card may be required at check-in. The card must be in the registered guest’s name and presented with a government-issued photo ID; cards or IDs in another person’s name are not accepted.

Pets

  • Pets are welcome in the inn’s pet-friendly rooms, subject to availability. Please tell us about your pet when you book.
  • The pet fee is $35 per pet, per night, with a maximum of two pets per room.
  • Pets must not be left unattended and must be kept in a secure crate whenever they are inside the guest room.
  • Pet-caused room damage or extraordinary cleaning is charged at the actual assessed cost. There is no fixed amount; it varies by property, room and the nature and extent of the damage or cleaning required.

Service animals as defined by the ADA are welcome in any available room. No pet fee, pet deposit or routine cleaning fee applies. Advance notice is not required, though staff are happy to know if a guest would like help preparing for arrival. Service animals must remain under the handler’s control and may not be left alone in the room. Charges may apply for actual damage on the same basis as for any guest.

Smoking

All rooms are non-smoking. Smoking is permitted only in designated outdoor areas. Smoking-related damage or extraordinary cleaning is charged at the actual assessed restoration cost; there is no fixed fee.

Room occupancy and extra guests

  • The maximum number of guests for each room and cottage type is shown with it on the rooms and cottages page.
  • All registered guests are permitted on the hotel premises. Rooms, amenities and other guest areas are for registered guests only.
  • Anyone who wants to stay overnight must book and register for a room. They may make a walk-in reservation at the front desk when a room is available.

Pool

Seahorse Inn & Cottages does not have a swimming pool. Selected room types have an in-room whirlpool tub; these are private room features, not a shared pool.

Noise and guest conduct

  • Loud music and parties are not permitted anywhere on the property, including in vehicles. Anyone disturbing the peace will be evicted with no refund.
  • Anyone intoxicated by alcohol or drugs and causing a disturbance, inside or outside the rooms, will be evicted with no refund.
  • This is a drug-free property. Offenders are evicted immediately with no refund.
  • Prostitution, solicitation, photographing other guests or employees, and unwelcome advances towards them are strictly forbidden.

Parking

Parking is free and unassigned. When the inn is fully booked, parking is limited to one vehicle per room. Additional vehicles require front-desk approval and available space.

Accessibility

The inn has accessible rooms, an accessible public entrance, an accessible route to the front desk and accessible parking. The full accessibility statement sets out what is and is not accessible, and how to ask for help.

Privacy and terms of use

How this website handles your information is set out in the privacy policy and the cookie policy. Use of the website is governed by the terms of use.

Housekeeping

Every room is serviced by housekeeping daily.

Maintenance

For a maintenance request, please call the front desk. Plungers and some basic tools are kept there. While every effort is made to have maintenance staff on site around the clock, the hotel does not guarantee it.

Room photographs

Room and amenity photographs on this website and on third-party booking sites may not always match your actual room’s layout, decor or amenities. Rooms are renovated and remodelled over time, so photographs may differ from the room you are given.

Photography and filming

Commercial photography or filming on the property is not allowed unless authorised by hotel management.

Smoke alarms and sprinklers

Please do not tamper with the smoke alarm in your room. If you think its batteries need replacing, tell the front desk. Please do not hang anything from the fire sprinklers.

Discounts and promotions

Discounts and promotions depend on room availability and management approval. No fixed discount or peak-season schedule is published; call for what is available on your dates.

Non-discrimination

We are LGBTQ friendly. We are a culturally and racially diverse hotel with employees of many backgrounds, who add to the experience of staying here. We have a zero-tolerance policy for racial discrimination on our property.
